Simple Ways to Manage Your Thoughts

Manage_Thoughts        Thoughts seem to just flow in and out of our minds without us being in control of them. Sometimes thoughts come into my head and I’m like, “Where did that even come from??” But the reality is we are ultimately in control of our minds. The devil certainly tries everything he can to infiltrate our minds. He wants to tear us down and keep us away from thinking about positive, God-filled thoughts. The more we allow these thoughts to float through our mind, the more we are giving our control over to the devil. I want to stop these negative thoughts from flowing in my mind. I want to have complete control over the things that I think; it is MY mind after all. So, in order to do that, I believe that I will need to watch what I expose myself to. I need to expose myself to more of God and positive things, then of the world and all the negativity in it. I have thought of a few simple things to help jump start all of us into getting control of our mind again.

  • Start and End my day with God and positive thoughts: Each day I will wake up and thank God for another day to live. I will read the Bible and talk to God before I even get out of bed. At the end of the day I will continue to meditate on positive thoughts and Bible verses. Then I will study His word and talk to Him.
  • Counteract Negative Thoughts with Positive Ones: Every time that a negative thought floats into my mind, I will think of either a Bible verse or positive thought immediately! I will tell myself that the negative thought is a lie and then meditate on a positive thought over and over until I forget about the negative thought.
  • Fill myself with more positivity than negativity: It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the world and all the negativity. All these shows with people acting ungodly and the depressing news, it’s so easy to let negative things enter into our minds. I am going to be careful what I watch, what books I read, and what music I listen to.
  • Write down at least three things that I am thankful for each day: Constantly reminding myself of all the positive things in my life will leave me with less time to focus on the negative. With this task I hope to drown out any negativity so that I can only focus on the positive aspects in my life.
  • Find positivity in the negative things in life: Let’s be real, we can’t avoid anything negative in our lives, it’s just not possible. One thing we can change, though, is how we let the negativity affect us. We don’t have to let the negative things bring us down. I want to learn how to find something good in every negative thing in my life.

I’m ready to bring more positivity into my thinking and change my view on life. I am striving to be as happy as I can, and the first step is to change my thought patterns. I am determined not to let the devil control my thoughts and mind any longer. Who’s with me? Let’s gain our mind back from the devil and live the happy lives God intended us to live.

  • Love the idea of writing things down that you are thankful for. I struggle with naturally being negative & its a daily battle of choosing God’s truth vs the enemies lies! It’s almost exhausting but these little tips are great practical ways to combat that.

Managing your thoughts is so important – and people usually take that for granted.
    Thanks for the reminder.
